If you love your car then you’ve got to give it plenty of tender love and care. It needs to look great and feel great. It also needs to have some serious power. You really can never have enough power behind your wheel, so its time to upgrade your engine. There are several ways in which you can do this and you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg. Check out my suggestions below.

1. Cold air intake. This is an incredibly easy and popular way to amp up your car’s horsepower. It’s a do-it-yourself modification. The kit comes with a bolt on air filter attached to a metal pipe. It will give your engine much cooler air, which is essentially denser than warm air. As a result, the combustion will be much stronger when the air combines with the fuel. A new kit can cost as low as $100.

2. Turbocharger. A turbocharger system is somewhat more expensive, but it’s another great way to add some serious power to your ride. It compresses the air that feeds your engine. This results in more oxygen dense air, which when mixed with your fuel creates a jolt of horsepower. With a turbocharger, you can easily add up to 100 horsepower from your stock capabilities. These kits start as low as $2000 and up to $10,000.

3. Custom Exhaust. Similar to cold air intake systems, an exhaust system is a fairly easy and extremely popular way to increase your engine’s horsepower. An aftermarket system will give your vehicle a much larger exhaust pipe. It will increase your horsepower and also give your engine better output and fuel economy. These systems cost between $400 and $1000.
